A Johor Umno Youth leader is slated to face charges in court tomorrow following allegations of sexual assault involving several teenage boys, with at least six victims identified in the case.
Initially, reports surfaced yesterday indicating that the suspect had been apprehended on Monday after a police report was filed accusing him of sexually assaulting one boy. Subsequent investigations revealed two victims, both approximately 15 years old. However, four additional teenagers came forward to report that they had also been victimized by the politician.
Confirming the new developments, Bukit Aman Sexual, Women, and Child Investigation Division (D11) chief Siti Kamsiah Hassan stated that the police have received a total of five cases against the suspect.
One of the cases reportedly involves two siblings who filed a joint report, prompted by their father. Authorities plan to proceed with charges in one of the cases tomorrow, with investigation papers expected to be forwarded to the prosecution office today. Mersing district police chief Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani declined to provide further details, indicating that an official press statement would be issued after the submission of investigation papers to the prosecutor's office.
While the identity of the suspect, who holds a leadership position in one of Umno's Johor divisions, has not been disclosed pending court charges, it has been revealed that he was actively involved in volunteerism and NGO programs, often bringing the teenagers along to participate in these activities.
Johor Umno Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros stated that the party's wing is closely monitoring the case and deferring to the authorities to take necessary actions. Regarding the suspect's membership status, Azleen noted that further measures would be determined based on the party's constitution and guidance from national leadership.
Emphasizing the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold, Azleen reiterated the party's stance of letting the authorities conduct their investigation and follow due process.
