Kota Kinabalu: PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar said the party’s narrative should not be dictated solely by the central leadership, but shaped together with the people of Sabah, in line with the spirit of “Sabah’s Voice for Sabahans.”

“We want to defend our victory by ensuring continuity from the very beginning — from the federal level, the centre, and the state —to unite the entire party machinery,” she said during the launch of Sabah PKR’s PRN17 Election Machinery at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Saturday.

She said success should not rely solely on prominent figures or outsiders, but on the local machinery’s ability to understand and address the real concerns of the people.

Nurul Izzah also addressed the role of women in the party machinery, noting that safety concerns during door-to-door campaigns are often overlooked. She said youth and graduates are a key group that must be actively involved.

She said the struggles faced by young people and the “sandwich generation,” who are trying to support ageing parents while building their own futures. Issues like low wages, limited job opportunities, and weak social support are central to PKR’s agenda.

“We want them to understand our agenda—so that talented university graduates in Sabah can proudly say, ‘This is my party. This is the party of the future,’” she said.

Nurul Izzah that continuity also means having the courage to build from the ground up, with the determination to deliver a clear and honest message to voters.

PKR, she said, will not make empty promises, but will rely on its proven track record in states like Selangor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan to demonstrate its capabilities.

Nurul Izzah also urged national leaders to remain present in Sabah — not just during election season — but as part of a long-term commitment to the state’s future.

Present were Sabah PKR Chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud and PKR Vice President Datuk Amiruddin Shari.
