Jollibee: Food safety, quality controls being strengthened

JOLLIBEE Foods Corp. (JFC) on Wednesday said it was strengthening food safety and quality systems across its global operations as the company expands its store network.

Food safety and quality controls are being standardized across markets, the company said in a statement, with implementation being rolled out in phases overseas and completed in the Philippines.

JFC said the initiative covered supplier compliance, product development, restaurant operations, employee training and monitoring processes intended to maintain consistency across brands and markets.

Suppliers were required to meet internationally recognized food safety standards, while restaurant teams will undergo training and periodic certification to support compliance with operating procedures.

The company added that centralized digital platforms were being used to monitor food safety performance, supplier compliance, and operational risks across markets.

JFC, which operates more than 10,000 stores and cafés in 33 countries, said the Philippines would be the benchmark for the wider rollout of the quality management systems.

“For us, spreading joy through superior taste begins with trust,” Jollibee Group Global President and CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong said. “That trust is built on food that is safe, consistent, and made with care.”

Wally Mateo, the company’s global head of quality management, said the systems were designed to reduce operational risks and maintain product consistency as the company expands into more markets.

The company said completed implementations achieved between 98 percent and 100 percent alignment with its internal food safety and quality standards.

JFC shares on Wednesday dropped P1.90, or 1.41 percent, to close at P133.00 each.
