Jollibee sees 1,500 expansion areas in PH

JOLLIBEE Foods Corp. (JFC) has identified more than 1,500 potential locations for new stores in the Philippines from 2027 to 2030, 71 percent of which are outside Metro Manila, as the homegrown fast-food giant seeks to sustain growth through provincial expansion and new store formats.

The company on Thursday said its Philippine business had more than 3,500 stores as of the first half of 2026, providing a nationwide network for further expansion, although actual openings would depend on site availability, commercial viability and expected returns.

Jollibee Group Philippines’ systemwide sales were said to have grown 10 percent year on year in both 2024 and 2025, supported by network expansion and higher sales at existing stores. Same-store sales grew eight percent in 2024 and five percent in 2025.

Growth momentum continued in the first half of this year both in systemwide and same-store sales, the company said.

“Our scale provides a strong foundation for future growth, and we see even greater opportunities to reach more consumers, particularly in markets beyond our existing footprint, and serve more occasions,” said Joseph C. Tanbuntiong, chief executive of Jollibee Group Philippines and head of the global Jollibee brand.

He said the company would pursue expansion through new stores, stronger execution and formats designed to improve accessibility, while maintaining discipline on site viability and returns.

The group’s Jollibee, Mang Inasal and Chowking brands account for nearly 90 percent of the Philippine business’ systemwide sales, with Jollibee alone contributing about 62 percent.

Jollibee continued to grow its systemwide sales in the first half, while Mang Inasal remained a standout growth brand and Chowking continued to expand its reach across everyday dining occasions, the company said.

Beyond opening new stores, JFC plans to increase customer access through delivery, drive-thru facilities, digital ordering and flexible store formats.

Mang Inasal’s first drive-thru outlet opened in Sta. Maria, Bulacan, in December 2025. By the first half of 2026, the brand had eight operating drive-thru locations, generating average daily sales about 40 percent higher than those of its other stores.

Mang Inasal President Mike Castro said the brand would continue expanding into more communities and improving accessibility through formats such as drive-thru outlets.

Jollibee Philippines President Ferns Yu Jr. said the brand would focus on reaching more Filipino families while strengthening operations in existing communities.

Chowking Philippines President Ana Aluyen said the brand would expand selectively and improve store execution to make its Chinese-style offerings accessible to more customers.

The planned expansion comes as JFC seeks to build on its established brands and operating network to reach underserved markets and increase sales opportunities across the country.

JFC operates a portfolio of 20 brands, with more than 10,700 stores and cafes across 33 countries, according to the company.

The company’s shares on Thursday dropped P2.10, or 1.46 percent, to close at P141.90 each amid a 0.93 percent uptick for the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index.
