Jollibee to expand Tim Ho Wan in Taiwan

JOLLIBEE Foods Corp. (JFC) is expanding its Tim Ho Wan brand in Taiwan, with plans to double the dim sum chain’s store network to 32 from 16 over the next four years as part of its international growth strategy.

The listed fast-food chain giant said Wednesday that the Tim Ho Wan expansion would be made via Hoyii Life, its Taiwan franchisee.

The expansion aims to make Taiwan the pilot market for a new concept store format designed to cater to increasingly mobile consumers, with the company hoping to apply lessons from the rollout to other markets.

“Taiwan is one of Tim Ho Wan’s most established and successful franchise markets, and we are excited about the opportunity to bring the brand to even more consumers in the years ahead,” Tim Ho Wan CEO Lee Yeong Sheng said.

He said the expansion plan would build on the strength of the brand, the capabilities of its Taiwan franchise partner and the market’s long-term growth potential.

The entry of Collins Co. Ltd., a Taiwan-listed diversified group, as Hoyii Life’s majority shareholder is seen as further strengthening Tim Ho Wan’s expansion capacity by providing additional resources to support store growth and new format development.

Tim Ho Wan became part of the Jollibee Group following the completion of the transfer of ownership and management in January 2025. The dim sum chain has since served as the company’s flagship brand for Chinese cuisine.

Jollibee said the Hong Kong-founded restaurant chain currently operates more than 80 stores globally and continues to expand through a franchise-led model.

Richard Shin, CEO of JFC International and global chief financial and risk officer of Jollibee Group, said the Taiwan expansion reflected the company’s strategy of growing Tim Ho Wan in markets where demand for authentic Asian dining remained strong.

“Tim Ho Wan gives Jollibee Group a distinctive platform in Chinese cuisine, anchored by a globally recognized brand, proven menu offerings and opportunities for disciplined, market-relevant expansion,” Shin said.

The company noted that Tim Ho Wan’s Sham Shui Po branch in Hong Kong recently received its 17th consecutive Michelin recognition, further highlighting the brand’s reputation as it pursues further international expansion.

Jollibee Foods shares added, P2.00, or 1.36 percent, to close at P149.00 each on Wednesday.
