EV Connection (JomCharge) has deployed Taiping’s first-ever EV charging hub which offers both DC and AC charge points. It is also the first publicly accessible DC charger in Perak’s second-largest town which can deliver up to 90kW per nozzle.
The latest JomCharge EV chargers are located at Taman Tasik Commercial Centre which has a total of 5 charging bays. There’s a 180kW DC Charger with two nozzles and three 7kW AC charge points. At the time of writing, these chargers are priced based on time instead of kWh consumed.
The 180kW DC charger with two CCS2 nozzles (up to 90kW) is priced at RM2.20 per minute (RM66 for 30 minutes). Meanwhile, the 7kW AC charge points with Type 2 connector, are priced at RM1.00 per 15 minutes (RM4 per hour). To activate these chargers, you can use the JomCharge app.
Previously, the nearest DC Charger for Taiping was located at Caltex Bukit Gantang (Southbound) along the North-South Expressway. It is a 50kW DC charger which is priced at RM1.20 per minute. This was also our first charging stop when we attempted our Hyundai Ioniq 6 drive from Taiping to Johor Bahru on a single charge.
