3 months left in the year, and I've barely just reached the midpoint of my yearly ‘fitness’ goal.

I started running on the treadmill routinely in mid-2024, as a way to (hopefully) make me feel healthier after ‘ruining’ my body with all kinds of foods, drinks and stress during the work week. Turning 24 was when my frontal lobe started developing slowly, and made me realised that if I don't start now, I'll really regret it later.

Come 2025, I wanted to include this into my personal, yearly SMART goals. Ok lah, first round doing this - targeted 100km in total treadmill for the 1st year. Final outcome? Achieved 104km, +4% vs target. Good job to me!

Hitting that 2025 target gave me a boost of (over)confidence and as part of my 2026's goals, I decided to GO BIG because I'm surely not planning to go home - how many % increase in my target do you think I set?

Nope. Not 10%, not 20%, heck - not even 40%. I went straight for a 50% increase in target, landing at an absolute of 150km!

When the year started, I tried to go twice a week on both weekend days. As the year got busier, it became once a week and then sometimes not even at all. The mindset remained the same for the first few months - “Aiya there's still many months to go in the year, I can definitely catch up later".

Now that we're in October with 3 months left in the year, I realised I might be in trouble. Looking back at my tracker, I've barely just hit half my goal! Only 86.6km, which is 57%! And we're already past 75% of the year in time gone! (extensive internal SCREAMING ensues)

While I'm still actively trying to chase my target, being a responsible adult with a corporate job makes it really challenging to go for a run more than once a week. And each session, I can only do 3km because that's all the time I have for the week.

So honestly, it's not threading well and I'm hoping that when I clear my annual leaves at the end of the year, I'll actually have more time to go to the gym to hit that 150km I'm so keen to achieve.

Good news - is that the #JomFit campaign lasts all the way until 28 Jan 2027, so I'll be able to give a final conclusion to this topic when the year ends! Stay tuned :)
