I learned from the swimming coach of my grandchildren that formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88% in children ages 1 to 4. Learning to swim is a life-or-death skill, essential for every child. The risk of drowning is a public health risk and childhood established swimming skills are one of the integral strategies. Lessons teach more survival skills such as floating, treading water, turning to look for a wall, and climbing out safety. Swimming is a low-impact, full-body exercise that builds cardiovascular endurance, and lung capacity. It helps mental wellbeing & confidence because water immersion has a calming effect that lowers stress hormones like cortisol and releases endorphins. Overcoming fears in the pool builds self-assurance & mental resilience. In addition, the group swim classes encourages social skills and teamwork through coach-student communication, turn-taking, peer cooperation, disciplines following safety & security instructions.

Children and parents should learn to swim and learn water safety skills. Evidence suggests that many children older than 1 year will benefit from swim lessons. I am delighted that parents of my grandkids had signed up for swim lessons with professional coach at swim school for their children. They are fortunate to gain the benefits of proper swimming lessons. I remember at their age, I learned to swim by merely trial and error. I grew up near mining pools and rivers so together with my childhood friends and schoolmates, we simply jumped into the water and learned how to swim.

I realized swimming lessons offer numerous benefits for both young and old. Not only is swimming a fun and social sport with a range of health befits, but its also vital life skill that is potentially lifesaving. Starting swimming lessons from early age has many benefits for children, both in and out of the pool. It is a lifelong skills to help our children grow socially, mentally and academically.
