- Tejpal, the 63-year-old founder and former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine, was also ordered to pay a fine of approximately 1 million rupees (about £7,815) to the survivor.
- The High Court criticized the lower court's acquittal as 'perverse,' stating it relied on 'stereotypical assumptions' about how a sexual assault survivor should react.
- Tejpal plans to challenge the conviction in the Supreme Court and has been granted four weeks to surrender.
