
Road Transport Department’s Ops HRA 2026 sees 14,455 vehicles facing action, with seat belt and phone use among top offences detected nationwide.
IPOH: The Road Transport Department has inspected 172,479 vehicles nationwide under its Hari Raya Aidilfitri Operation 2026.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said 14,455 vehicles faced enforcement action for various offences.
A total of 1,651 inspection slips were issued, while 289 vehicles were seized for violating the current road ban.
“JPJ has issued 33,402 notices for various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987,” he told a press conference.
He added that 2,566 major offences were detected during the special operation.
The most frequent offence was not wearing a seat belt, with 761 cases recorded.
This was followed by overloading with 353 cases and carrying loads dangerously with 298 cases.
Other significant offences included disobeying traffic lights with 317 cases and not wearing helmets with 293 cases.
A further 207 cases involved using a mobile phone while driving.
Cutting the queue accounted for 132 cases, while driving in the emergency lane and overtaking on a double line recorded 124 and 81 cases respectively.
Analysis by state showed Johor recorded the highest number of offences at 881 cases.
Pahang followed with 264 cases, and Perak recorded 207 cases.
Aedy Fadly said the main offences in these states were not wearing a seat belt and using a mobile phone while driving.
The special operation was conducted to maintain road safety and enhance adherence to traffic regulations during the festive season.
