THE Road Transport Department (JPJ) has restored its online vehicle ownership transfer service with immediate effect following concerns over disruptions to daily transactions, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said today.
Loke said JPJ would only carry out any future system suspension for improvement works during the long weekend later this week to minimise inconvenience and congestion at JPJ offices.
It was earlier reported that JPJ would suspend the online service for change of vehicle ownership effective today, encompassing all digital channels, including the public portal, kiosks, JPJ business partners MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the immediate control measure was taken following several official and social media complaints about incidents where vehicle ownership was changed without the knowledge of their registered owners.
“I have spoken with Datuk Aedy regarding the temporary suspension of online services for change of ownership matters as reported by the media.
“JPJ has notified MOT regarding the abuse and fraud that occurs in the system of exchange of ownership, resulting in the liability that JPJ has to bear.
“Thus, JPJ needs to make improvements to the online system at an immediate rate.
“However, I have advised JPJ to ensure system improvement works do not disrupt the daily affairs of ordinary users and do not cause huge congestion at JPJ offices,” he said.
Following this, Loke said JPJ has agreed to restore the online services immediately, and any system delays for improvement works will only be implemented during the long break this weekend. – May 25, 2026
