JPJ received a public complaint

In a statement, JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the officer was driving a department vehicle and was caught overtaking on a double line. The department received a public complaint regarding the incident.

He added that immediate disciplinary action had been taken, including issuing a summons and barring the officer from operating any JPJ vehicles.

“The department takes this matter seriously. Immediate disciplinary action has been taken against the officer, including a summons for overtaking on a double line and a directive prohibiting him from driving any department vehicles,” he said.

Investigations into any further offences by the officer are underway

In addition, the officer has been suspended from duty and reassigned to a general administrative role at JPJ Headquarters until the investigation is completed.

He added that further investigations are underway to determine if the officer committed any additional offences that may warrant further action.

“JPJ will not compromise and will take firm action against any road users (including its own officers and staff) who violate traffic laws. We appreciate members of the public who record and report such violations,” he said.

He also encouraged the public to lodge complaints directly or in real time if they come across similar incidents, either through the MyJPJ e-aduan in the JPJ app or by emailing with complete details of the complaint.
