KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Lands and Surveys Department (JTU) has achieved 92 per cent of its 2024 targets under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan, successfully meeting 11 out of 12 key performance indicators.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, at the JTU excellent service award appreciation ceremony here on Monday, said the accomplishment reflected the commitment of JTU staff in delivering quality services to the people and the state.

He noted that land revenue collection exceeded the RM281 million target with RM290.87 million recorded, while 55,670 land applications were processed against a goal of 45,000, and Native Customary Rights (NCR) land surveys covered 17,701.50 hectares compared to the 15,000-hectare target.

The department also gazetted 82 village reserve sites, surpassing its target of 80, and introduced three new online systems — the Temporary Occupation Licence renewal system, the Land Enforcement System, and a 3D Building application.

Hajiji highlighted the continuing importance of the Pantas programme for surveying native customary land, which has measured 488,705 acres across 70,436 lots since 2011, and urged civil servants to maintain creativity and innovation in strengthening public service delivery.
