
Kota Kinabalu: The Lahad Datu Prison will be inaugurated by the Yang di-Pertuan Negeri Sabah, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin in Sept.
Sabah State Prison Director, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Nora Musa said the prison, which has a capacity of 1,500 people, has 420 staff.
“The inauguration ceremony will be completed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri in September,” She said, after a courtesy call on Tun Juhar at Istana Seri Kinabalu, on Wednesday.
The visit aims to introduce the management of prisons throughout Sabah, in addition to making an invitation to Tun Juhar to declare open the prison.”

Lahad Datu Prison is the fourth in the state after Tawau, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu Prisons to overcome the problem of overcrowding.
