KOTA KINABALU: Muslim women must understand their rights under Syariah law to avoid continued injustice in cases such as abuse, divorce, and denial of maintenance or property, said the Chief Minister's wife, Datin Seri Juliah Salag.
Speaking at the Madani Women's Forum in Sabah Federal Administration Complex Auditorium on Wednesday, Juliah said many women remain unaware of their rights, including maintenance, shared property, protection from abuse, and fair divorce proceedings.
Juliah, who is also Mutiara GRS Chairperson, rejected claims that Islam oppresses women, stating that the religion upholds women's dignity and grants them significant roles in society.
