Manchester City are ready to secure Julian Alvarez to a new contract.

The Daily Mail says Alvarez is set to double his wages to around 100,000 a week by signing a new long-term contract at City.

City have moved to add a further year to the World Cup winner's deal and tie him down until 2028.

The extension comes just months after Alvarez moved to the Etihad Stadium and his stock rose significantly while starring for Argentina in Qatar earlier this season.

The 23-year-old has largely acted as an understudy to Erling Haaland, with the pair starting together on six occasions.

City have scored 20 goals in those matches and Alvarez, a popular member of the dressing room, has had an impact during his debut campaign.
