July 21 mention for convicted dad facing extra rape charges

TAWAU: The hearing of seven additional rape charges involving a man previously sentenced to 165 years’ jail and 110 strokes of the cane for raping his two biological daughters in Lahad Datu has been fixed for July 21 for further mention.

Sessions Court Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya set the date after Deputy Public Prosecutor Suhayl Aminin Sallehuddin informed the court that the victim’s medical report had yet to be obtained.

During proceedings on May 6, the 54-year-old part-time tuition teacher pleaded guilty to all seven charges of raping his eldest daughter, who is also one of the victims in the Lahad Datu case.

The court had earlier fixed June 23 (Tuesday) for mention pending the medical report of the victim.

The prisoner is accused of raping his 25-year-old daughter in seven separate incidents at three hotels along Jalan Bakau, Jalan Dunlop and Jalan Masjid here.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between Dec 4 and 6, 2025 at Jalan Bakau; Dec 18 to 19, 2025, Jan 11 to 12, Jan 29 to 30, Feb 25 to 26, and March 1 to 3, 2026 at Jalan Dunlop; and March 18 to 19, 2026 at Jalan Masjid.

He is charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 30 years and whipping of up to 10 strokes, on conviction.

On April 8, the Lahad Datu Sessions Court sentenced him to a total of 165 years’ imprisonment and 110 strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to 11 rape charges involving his two biological daughters.

According to earlier reports quoting Lahad Datu Deputy Police Chief Supt Jimmy Panyau, both victims were allegedly raped since they were aged 15 and 18.

The victims were also allegedly forced into sexual acts under threats of being beaten if they refused, in incidents said to have occurred since 2016.

The man was arrested following a police report lodged by his two daughters at the Tawau police station on March 22, this year.
