Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC II are targeting three points in the MFL Cup match against PDRM FC Under-23 at the Likas Stadium tonight (Saturday). Assistant coach Razlan Oto is confident the players are ready to bounce back after the disappointing 1-2 loss at home to Terengganu FC II on Wednesday.
“I believe the players will be able shoulder the responsibility, and give their best to achieve victory tomorrow night. “The team did not show their true quality in the first half against Terengganu FC II and as a result, we were penalised by conceding a goal.
“The players gave a spirited display in the second half. They played really well as instructed and were able to create many chances to score. “The equaliser was through a penalty kick taken by Azhad Harraz four minutes into extra time. Unfortunately, we were unable to hold on and lost focus to concede another goal three minutes later,” he said on Friday.
No word on who will be playing tonight, but head coach Billyton Vun had earlier said he will try to rotate the squad as the players will not have enough time to recover because of the tight schedule.
Sabah FC II will end the season with the match against Negeri Sembilan II also at the Likas Stadium on Monday (April 14).
“It is quite impossible for the players to get the rest needed with three matches to play within a week. “They need at least 48 hours of rest after each match for the recovery process and we cannot avoid that. “Furthermore, we also have difficulty with the team preparation with the amount of time available,” he said.
