Before the upside-down Jalur Gemilang incident outside a hardware store in Penang, Dr Akmal Saleh had also commented on a similar case that occurred at an SJK(C) school in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

Dr Akmal stated that the school management should be punished if it was proven that they allowed an OKU (disabled) employee to hoist the Malaysian flag without supervision. In one of his posts, he responded with, “Please give them a mirror and an OKU card as well.”

Malaysian politician and lawyer Teng Chang Khim responded by likening Dr Akmal’s behaviour to that of a stray dog.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Chang Khim said there was no point in lodging a police report against Dr Akmal, but instead, Malaysians should report him to the City Council so they could catch the “stray dog.”

Dr Akmal, in turn, likened Chang Khim’s behaviour to that of a wild boar.

In his Facebook post, Akmal said he was merely defending the Malaysian flag, and claimed that the other party chose to criticise him because they had no other issues to highlight.

“Not only were the young leaders foolish, but the senior leader is just the same. It’s just like a wild boar.”

The school in Port Dickson issued a public apology after the photo of the upside-down Jalur Gemilang went viral. A DAP member later revealed that the flag had been hoisted by an OKU staff member at the school.
