THE Bayu Raudhah Welfare Organisation on Friday issued a detailed clarification on the financial position of the JusticeForZara fund, rejecting claims of abuse of power or misappropriation of public donations.
The organisation’s Sabah secretary, Sitti Fhaizah Mukthar, said in a statement that the fund was established solely to assist the victim’s family and to support the ongoing inquest proceedings.
“We firmly deny any misuse or misappropriation of funds. All financial management is carried out in accordance with the organisation’s procedures and the applicable legal regulations,” she said.
She explained that all funds collected were carefully recorded and used strictly for their stated purposes, including documentation costs, professional expert services, logistics, accommodation for family members and experts, as well as meeting and operational requirements.
According to her, every expenditure was supported by official receipts and documentation to ensure full accountability.
Sitti Fhaizah said the fund, which was opened to public donations from 8 to 12 September, successfully raised a total of RM255,016.27. Of that amount, RM162,155.87 has been spent on case-related needs, leaving a remaining balance of RM94,096.97 as of 18 December 2025.
She noted that the largest portion of expenditure went towards professional expertise and consultation services, amounting to RM82,747.35, followed by logistics and travel costs.
These included air and land travel for experts and transportation for family members involved in the proceedings, totalling RM40,435.54.
Other expenses covered accommodation costs of RM22,119.28, as well as documentation and communication expenses amounting to RM12,497.
“All information and records related to the JusticeForZara fund have been disclosed to the relevant authorities for the purpose of review and monitoring,” she said.
She added that the organisation remains ready to continue cooperating with the relevant parties to ensure transparent governance is upheld at all times.
“The financial report for this fund is also open for review by the authorities or donors who wish to know more about the flow of funds,” she said.
Sitti Fhaizah said the disclosure of the fund’s financial details was intended to clarify public perception and restore confidence in the efforts being undertaken in the pursuit of justice. - December 19, 2025
