K’tan set to dissolve assembly this week, paving way for polls

KUALA LUMPUR – Kelantan is preparing to dissolve its state assembly this week, paving the way for the upcoming state election.

According to a report by Astro Awani today, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob announced that the dissolution date will be confirmed after the state executive council’s weekly meeting on Wednesday.

“We will await the timing of this week’s exco meeting, Insha-Allah (God willing),” he said.

Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah also confirmed the announcement.

“The menteri besar will declare the date this week for the dissolution. Please wait,” he said.

Kelantan’s state assembly consists of 45 seats, with seven seats held by Umno, one by Bersatu, and the remaining by PAS.

Previously, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan revealed that the seat allocation process among parties in Perikatan Nasional for the six states set to hold elections is nearing completion.

The current term of the Kelantan assembly will conclude at the end of this month. – The Vibes, June 11, 2023
