Ka Tung, Nabila clinch one-stroke wins in Labuan Amateur Open C’ships

LABUAN: Veteran amateur Lee Ka Tung and Nabila Alifuddin can thank their lucky stars after winning the men’s and women’s sections by one stroke each in the 30th Labuan Amateur Open Golf Championships at the Labuan Golf Club here today.

Ka Tung carded 74-73-75 for a three-day total of six-over 222 while Mohd Zariq ended with a seven-over 223 (76-69-78).

“I’ve been playing golf for decades, and this victory means a lot to me.

“The Labuan Golf Club presented a formidable challenge, but I was determined to stay consistent and give my best in every round,” a triumphant Ka Tung said.

In the women’s section, Nabila emerged as champion after carding 80-75-78 for a three-day total of 17-over 233 while Nurul Shahirah Afiqah finished second on 18-over 234 (84-77-73)

A total of 116 golfers from various clubs in Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan and Brunei took part in the tournament, which offers total prize money of over RM70,000.
