Kota Kinabalu: The Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and industry (KCCI) hailed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s RM661 billion economic transformation, outlined in the 13th Malaysia Plan as bold and timely.

“It comes at a time of economic uncertainties caused by the Trump tariff policies and the ongoing conflicts in Europe and Middle East,” said its president Datuk Ladislaus Maluda.

He said initiatives worthy of mention that not only add value to the government economic initiatives but would be a game changer include, revitalisation of private-public partnership and the creation of 5000 digital entrepreneurs by 2030.

Another initiative that is forward-looking is tackling the waste production of an ever-increasing population.

“The initiative to encourage the private sector will not only reduce the burden on the Government in managing waste but create value to the economy and provide more opportunities for the private sector to participate,” he said.

Ladislaus also lauded the continuing government efforts to increase business participation of Sabah and Sarawak indigenous groups.

For a long time the participation of Sabah and Sarawak in business and commerce was far lagging behind and the KCCI will continue supporting the government in its role as the flag bearer and torch of Sabah’s indigenous business community,” he said.
