SIBU: The Kanowit District Council, in collaboration with the Kanowit Member of Parliament Service Centre, the National Unity Ministry and the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, will organise the Kanowit Festival 2024 from Sept 20 to 22.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said in a statement Friday that the Kanowit Festival, which has been held since 2003, aligns with the “Ini Warisan Kita” (This is Our Heritage) initiative introduced by his ministry as the main content of its flagship programme, Kembara Perpaduan Malaysia Madani.

This year’s Kanowit Festival will feature a variety of exciting activities such as the Kanowit RC Boat Challenge, Fun Fair & Trade Fair, Kanowit Power Boat Race, Rahmah sales, agency exhibitions, the Kanowit Waterfront Opening Ceremony, and the Kanowit Festival Queen contest.

According to him, the festival not only celebrates history and tradition but also recognises the diverse cultures and contributions that have shaped the identity of Malaysians.
