
With the monsoon season approaching, Deputy Commissioner Dr Anand Kumar Sharma conducted an inspection of the Yamuna areas and drainage systems on Saturday, to review flood-preparedness measures and ensure timely completion of all safety arrangements.
He directed officers to expedite the installation of studs on the embankments, a crucial measure aimed at strengthening flood protection structures and preventing riverbank erosion
During the visit, Dr Sharma inspected the embankments and vulnerable locations in Dilawra, Kundakala, Shergarh Tapu and the Mainmati drain. He reviewed the ongoing works and assessed the readiness of departments to tackle any floods or water logging situation during the upcoming monsoon.
Emphasising the importance of protecting villages and agricultural land situated along the Yamuna River, Dr Sharma instructed officials of the Irrigation Department to complete all pending preparations well before the monsoon.
Dr Sharma stressed that no compromise would be tolerated in the quality of the work and that all projects must be completed within the stipulated time.
He also directed continuous monitoring of all sensitive points along the river and asked officials to ensure that the drainage system remains fully functional to effectively manage any emergency situation.
