The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch, J&K, has filed a chargesheet in a recruitment scam involving appointments in the Health Department.
The chargesheet was presented before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in a case registered under charges of cheating, forgery and use of fake documents against four persons accused of securing government jobs on the basis of forged educational certificates.
The accused have been identified as Shuja Jeelani of Pamposh Colony, Channapora, Srinagar; Mohd Iqbal of Umer Colony, Lal Nagar, Channapora, Srinagar; Nisar Ahmad Wani of Malwari, Pulwama; and Riyaz Ahmad Shah of Midoora, Awantipora, Pulwama.
An official said the case was registered following a complaint alleging that the four candidates, selected by the Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) for various Health Department posts, had secured appointments using fake educational testimonials.
During verification, the documents submitted by the accused were found to be forged and inconsistent with the records furnished during the selection process. Their appointments were subsequently cancelled. The investigation established that the accused had dishonestly obtained government employment by using forged certificates, thereby cheating the authorities.
The official advised the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report such incidents to the SSP, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch, J&K. Victims of economic fraud can also submit complaints through the official email.
