Kaspersky says it detected and blocked “more than 18 million malicious attack detections” targeting businesses in Southeast Asia (SEA) in 2025, with Vietnam being the worst-hit by a significant margin, followed by Malaysia and Indonesia.

Kaspersky: Lower Overall Detections, Vietnam Worst-Hit

Of the 18,015,162 incidents recorded, Vietnam alone recorded 8.44 million detections, followed by Malaysia and Indonesia with 3.36 million and 3.0 million detections respectively; meanwhile, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines combined accounted for 3.2 million detections. Kaspersky classifies these incidents as involving “compromised websites, malicious downloads and other online attack vectors that can lead to unauthorized system access and data exposure.”

The cybersecurity company noted that while overall detections have declined in volume, increases were observed in Singapore and Vietnam – and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it indicates that growing enterprise cybersecurity adoption in these markets has contributed to higher detection rates as organizations strengthen their defensive capabilities.

Kaspersky indicated that increasing connectivity, including the adoption of smart devices, high-speed mobile networks and internet-enabled workplace tools, has contributed to the expansion of potential attack surfaces, while user awareness has not always kept pace with technological adoption.

Pokdepinion: Hacking is unfortunately a lucrative business these days, so toughening up defenses is the only way to go.
