Kota Kinabalu: The master plan for the Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park (KBEIP) is progressing ahead of schedule, with the draft final master plan successfully presented and the project now moving into its final phase.
Sedco Group General Manager Datuk James Wong said this during the third KBEIP technical and steering committee meeting held jointly with the Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Ministry (Mindet) here recently.
Covering a 1,205-acre site in Kudat, the industrial park will feature dedicated zones for downstream seafood processing, cold chain logistics, maritime services, green manufacturing, eco-tourism, and commercial town centres.
A further 3,129 acres in surrounding areas have been designated for community feedstock production, with plans to integrate local participants into Sedco’s Rise and S-Seed programmes to provide structured training, financing, and market access for Bumiputera entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Utility infrastructure for the development will include a phased 132kV grid connection from the Matunggong main intake substation, integrated with solar hill farms and battery energy storage systems.
