Kota Kinabalu: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) lashed out at Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Deputy Chairman Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia’s recent statement on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s determination to develop Sabah.

KDM President Datuk Peter Anthony said Pandikar, who is also Usno President, should self-reflect before accusing Anwar’s promises of developing the State as merely rhetorical.

“Give space to the Prime Minister to carry out his duties…it is not even a year (of Anwar being the Prime Minister), so there is no need to be overly critical,” he said in a statement, Thursday.

“Pandikar used to be in the government for so long. Why did he not voice it first when he became the Speaker and held a position in the government?

“Before you demand anything from the Prime Minister, strengthen your position. You talked about billions of ringgit in taxes, where had the money gone? And do not get me started with the ‘goat eating sand’ story.”

Recently, a video of Pandikar demanding the Prime Minister to fulfil his promises to Sabah was posted on Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan’s official Facebook page.

Peter stressed Anwar is the only Prime Minister who is committed to returning the rights of Sabah and Sarawak.

“So, we give him (Anwar) space. Ever since he became the Prime Minister, many initiatives have been implemented that benefited the State.

“Pandikar is saying as if the Prime Minister or the government has not done anything,” he said.

Peter also asked Pandikar and GRS to resolve their internal issues before criticising the Unity Government.

“GRS’ support for the Unity Government should be clear and not playing in two political ponds.

“GRS supports the Unity Government, but one of its leaders is also part of Perikatan Nasional (PN) top leadership,” he said.
