Keadilan Youth calls for higher BUDI95 fuel quota

MELAKA, Aug 14 - The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) Youth wing (AMK) wants the monthly Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) fuel quota restored to 300 litres and increased to 350 litres for those with high mobility needs, based on clear usage data.

AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Ahmad Munim said the proposal took into account lower global oil prices and the country's fiscal space, which he said gave the government room to increase the subsidy quota.

"We are not asking for unlimited subsidies. We are asking for a policy that understands the realities of people's lives because subsidy reform must go hand in hand with reforms that benefit the people.

"If the people are asked to make sacrifices, they have the right to see dividends from those sacrifices," he said in his policy speech at the AMK National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh here last night.

He also called for the Bumiputera empowerment policy to be strengthened so that the next generation would not merely receive protection but have the capacity to become owners in strategic areas, including housing, property, shares, companies, intellectual property and technology.

"Malay youths must have skills in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, green technology, biotechnology, aerospace, engineering and cybersecurity.

"We do not want Malay youths to merely be users of technology created by others. We want them to be creators," he said.
