An 11-year-old girl with a heart condition in Alor Setar, Kedah, died after allegedly being made to take part in an 80-metre running trial for her school’s sports programme.
According to Berita Harian, the girl’s father previously took to social media to claim that a teacher had instructed his daughter to join the running activity despite the school having been given a medical letter confirming her heart condition.

The incident reportedly left the girl bedridden and in need of oxygen support
Following the incident, Nur Qaira Alisha was reportedly left bedridden and required oxygen support before she passed away.
Her death prompted Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek to instruct the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) Integrity Unit to take further action in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations. She was also informed that Kedah State Education Department (JPN) had already investigated the complaint lodged by the girl’s family.
The teacher allegedly involved has been transferred
In a recent development, BERNAMA reported that the teacher believed to be involved in the case has been transferred to another school while investigations are ongoing.
A JPN spokesperson said the transfer was made shortly after the initial investigation as an early intervention measure, with the matter since being referred to the MOE’s Integrity Unit for further action.
The spokesperson also urged the public not to speculate about the case and to give JPN and MOE time to carry out a thorough investigation.
