Another key ally of Sir Keir Starmer has quit as the Prime Minister fights for his political survival amid the fallout of the Lord Peter Mandelson scandal.
Downing Street communications chief Tim Allan said he was standing down to allow “a new No 10 team to be built”.
It comes a day after the resignation of top aide to Sir Keir, Morgan McSweeney.
Mr Allan, the executive director of communications at No 10, said: “I have decided to stand down to allow a new No 10 team to be built.
“I wish the PM and his team every success.”
