
KELANTAN police arrested 39 individuals, including nine wanted for cases involving sexual crimes, women and children, in a special operation, earlier this month.
Those aged between 16 and 75 were detained through Op Kesan and Op Mega Cantas Khas by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters from 3 to 7 September.
Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said, Op Kesan saw nine local men wanted by the police being arrested, while Op Mega Cantas Khas arrested 30 people, including two women, consisting of 26 locals and four Indonesians.
"Of the total arrests, 12 people were found to be positive for drugs after urine screening tests.
"The main focus of Op Kesan is to track down and detain individuals wanted for offences, especially sexual crimes, women and children, while Op Mega Cantas Khas focuses on other criminal cases in the state," he said in a media statement today.
He said all those arrested were taken to the relevant District Police Headquarters for documentation and further investigations.
"Some were also detained for investigation under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017," he added. - September 9, 2025
