Two civil servants are among five male suspects arrested in connection with a land transfer fraud case using forged documents in Kota Baru on May 31.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun stated that the suspects, aged between 29 and 52, were apprehended following a report of a land fraud involving the use of Form 14A land transfer documents.

“The victim, a woman who is the director of a local company, suspected that her siblings’ signatures had been forged on the Form 14A land transfer documents for her family’s land, which spans 0.051 hectares. The land was sold to three buyers without the knowledge of the victim’s siblings, resulting in a loss valued at RM400,000,” he explained during a press conference after the Kelantan Police Chief’s Townhall Programme 2024 at Jeli Polytechnic.

Muhamad Zaki revealed that all the suspects have been remanded for six days under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property.

In a separate incident, police arrested two 37-year-old men last Saturday for their alleged involvement in two face-to-face gold sale fraud cases in Kota Bharu and Rantau Panjang.

According to Muhamad Zaki, two Thai women in their 60s were deceived by the suspects into purchasing fake gold chains, one for RM4,000 and the other for RM3,500. “The victims only discovered the gold was fake after having it checked by a goldsmith,” he said.

Further police investigations indicated that this group, along with several other individuals, were engaged in similar scams. Muhamad Zaki noted that the two suspects have been remanded from last Sunday until Thursday for investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

These arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the Kelantan police to crack down on fraud and protect the public from deceitful schemes. The authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
