Kelantan residents are being advised to make mature considerations if they want to become gold panners, as it requires time, energy, knowledge and the willingness to face challenges.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the Kelantan State Welfare, Family and Women Development Exco, Datuk Rohani Ibrahim, shared that if people already have full-time jobs, they should not abandon their current livelihoods for gold panning.

“Don’t band together and quit your jobs to go panning for gold. It’s not easy to get gold, but you can do it as a side job.”

This comes after gold panning activities increased due to the state government allowing people to carry out the activity, leading to rumours that many want to leave their full-time jobs to become gold panners.

Additionally, she reminded the public to be careful when carrying out gold panning activities in rivers ahead of the monsoon season, due to the risk of strong currents and flooding.
