A police officer has been remanded by the Magistrate’s Court today (April 7) to assist with an investigation into a case where he allegedly asked for a bribe.
According to Berita Harian, the remand order was issued by Magistrate Rais Imran Hamid against the man, who’s in his 30s, after he was accused of trying to ask the family of a rape victim for money.

He requested RM10k from the victim’s mum
Earlier, the police officer arrived at the Magistrate’s Court compound around 8:20AM for the remand proceedings, dressed in an orange MACC lock-up shirt and dark blue pants, as reported by Kosmo.
He was arrested by the Kelantan MACC at his office in Jeli yesterday (April 6) evening, for allegedly asking the rape victim’s family for RM10,000 in exchange to close the case.
The arrest came after the suspect was accused of asking a woman, believed to be the victim’s mum, for money as a reward to shut the rape case involving her daughter, which reportedly happened a few months ago.
He will be remanded for 3 days
Meanwhile, Kelantan MACC Director Rosli Husain confirmed the arrest and said the suspect will be remanded for 3 days starting today until Wednesday (April 9).
The police officer is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.
