Kelantan police open three investigation papers over extreme social media comments targeting PDRM, with one suspect arrested and two other cases under investigation
TUMPAT: Police have opened three investigation papers in relation to extreme comments on social media related to enforcement issues that are alleged to threaten public order and tarnish the image of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said a male suspect has been detained in relation to this case, whereas two other cases are under investigation and the suspects have been identified.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“The police have never rejected criticism or reprimands aimed at improvement and safeguarding the public’s interest.
“However, action will be taken against statements that are insulting, defamatory, or extreme accusations that can disrupt public order,” he said at a press conference after patrolling the country’s waters at the Region Three Marine Police Force jetty, Pengkalan Kubor, here today.

In related developments, he said that 42 individuals were detained in Kelantan this year for offences under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM).
Of that number, two individuals were detained for human trafficking offences, while the 40 others were involved in migrant smuggling offences.
Mohd Yusoff said that this number of arrests was compared to 59 individuals in 2025 and 51 in 2024.
He added that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will continue to intensify enforcement efforts to combat the smuggling of undocumented migrants and curb the involvement of any parties in such syndicates.
