Kemi Badenoch slammed for using ‘disgraceful’ Bloody Sunday footage in video

  • Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch posted a video criticising Labour's Northern Ireland Troubles Bill, which controversially included footage from Bloody Sunday.
  • The video, shared on her social media channels, featured Mrs Badenoch speaking alongside archive material depicting British soldiers, with at least one shot identified as being from Bloody Sunday.
  • Foyle MP Colum Eastwood condemned the video as "disgusting" and "disgraceful," calling it an insult to the innocent civil rights protesters murdered in Derry in 1972.
  • Mrs Badenoch's video argued that Labour's Bill would "drag" Troubles veterans back to court, and she stated her party would vote to block and repeal the legislation.
  • The video has since been removed from both X and Facebook, with Mr Eastwood contrasting it with David Cameron's 2010 apology for the actions of soldiers on Bloody Sunday.
