Kota Kinabalu: Sedafiat Sdn Bhd remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS) in providing top-quality, efficient, and patient-entered healthcare services for the wellbeing of the community in Sabah.
Sedafiat’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Awang Buhtamam Awang Mahmun said Sedafiat will continue to take initiatives to ensure seven core services under its responsibility are delivered efficiently.
He said this includes systematic and well-organized hospital facility management, ensuring proper hospital infrastructure maintenance, and handling the disposal of biomedical waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
“Additionally, we will ensure that essential services such as patient room cleanliness, sanitation, linen management, and logistics are carried out meticulously to enhance patient welfare,” he said.
Awang Buhtamam said this at a recent Sabah State Hospital Directors’ Meeting, chaired by the Deputy State Director (Medical) of the Sabah State Health Department, Datuk Dr. Abd. Kahar Bin Abd. Asis.
Several key issues were discussed, including spare parts for medical equipment, additional ambulance units, and challenges faced by patients in remote areas such as Nabawan, Pitas, Kota Marudu, and Kunak, where logistical difficulties remain a concern.
Sedafiat is a local concession company entrusted with maintaining services for 26 government hospitals in Sabah and Labuan over the past 10 years.
“Throughout this concession period, Sedafiat has played a crucial role in supporting the healthcare sector in Sabah under JKNS, allowing hospitals to focus entirely on clinical services and patient care.
“We are also taking proactive steps towards greener hospital operations by adopting energy-efficient and sustainable approaches as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability.
“Furthermore, the company integrates modern technology to enhance hospital management, including digital robotic cleaning systems and facility management tools, through its Sedafiat Innovation, Technology, and Creativity (STIC) program and digital transformation via Artificial Intelligence (AI),” he said.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, Dr. Abdul Kahar expressed appreciation for Sedafiat’s continuous dedication to prioritizing quality service and patient welfare in hospitals.
As a result of its commitment, the concession company has received numerous recognitions and achievements, notably a five-star performance rating from the Ministry of Health Malaysia for seven consecutive years since 2018.
Following the meeting, the delegation was taken on a visit to the Clinical Waste Treatment Plant and the Linen and Laundry Center, located in Lok Kawi, which operates under Sedafiat.
