Kota Kinabalu: Close cooperation between the public and security agencies, particularly through comprehensive coordination by the National Security Council (NSC), forms a crucial foundation for maintaining peace and stability, including in Sabah.
NSC Deputy Director-General Datuk Baharuddin Ahmad said the Council plays a key role in coordinating all security matters, covering land, maritime and air borders, with the involvement of various relevant agencies nationwide.
“Sabah has enormous potential, especially in tourism, maritime activities and the economy, which could generate billions of ringgit in returns if developed earnestly.
“The NSC strives to coordinate security issues relating to maritime and air borders throughout the country, including Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.
“Sabah is richly endowed in terms of its maritime resources, tourism, social development and oil sector. We coordinate with all parties — maritime agencies, the petroleum sector, as well as social and political stakeholders,” he said after paying a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Musa Aman, here, Thursday.
The visit was to inform Musa of Baharuddin’s retirement after 38 years of service with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the NSC.
He also stressed that the peace enjoyed today is driven by continuity in national leadership and expressed hope that close cooperation between the public and security agencies would continue to be strengthened to safeguard stability.
