KOTA TINGGI, Aug 23 — Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will have an audience with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to brief him on administrative issues within the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

He said the audience aims to provide a clearer picture of matters arising, including His Highness’ remarks on the leadership of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Regimen Gerak Khas (RGK).

“I believe we need to provide a clear explanation regarding the statement and decree.

“Indeed, in the near future, there will be an opportunity to have an audience, and perhaps we can work together to improve the situation,” he told a press conference after the Kota Tinggi Barisan Nasional Thanksgiving ceremony at the Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim here last night.

On Tuesday, Tunku Mahkota Ismail decreed that all parties involved in planning the development of the RGK must not alter decisions approved by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for the sake of certain interests.

In his decree during the parade ceremony held in conjunction with the 61st Anniversary of the RGK in Mersing, the Regent of Johor also voiced remarks regarding management issues within MINDEF and the leadership of the MAF. — Bernama
