MANILA, Philippines — South Korean actress Kim Go-eun won the Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, earning the highest honor for her performance in the Netflix romance drama "You and Everything Else." The victory marks the first Daesang of her career, adding another milestone to her decade-long list of acclaimed performances.
The Blue Dragon Series Awards, held on July 31, 2026 at the Paradise City in Incheon, South Korea, recognize excellence in Korean original streaming (OTT) content across drama and variety programming.
Kim was recognized for leading "You and Everything Else," while also showcasing her versatility through recent OTT projects, including "Yumi's Cells" Season 3 and "The Price of Confession." Her performances have further cemented her reputation as one of South Korea's most accomplished actresses.
When her name was announced as the Daesang winner, Kim appeared visibly stunned before making her way to the stage in tears. Fighting back her emotions, she reflected on the journey that led to the biggest honor of her career.
"I have been so fortunate to work with great seniors and learn from them. I have never taken a single project for granted. That's why I strive to approach each work with sincerity, earnestness, and a sense of responsibility," she said during her acceptance speech.
She also expressed her desire to continue growing as an actress.
"I want to continue discovering new sides of myself as an actress and remain someone who sparks curiosity. I hope I'll continue to receive opportunities, and I'll work even harder."
Her heartfelt remarks quickly resonated with fans online, many of whom praised her humility, dedication, and passion for acting.
Although Kim has received numerous acting awards throughout her career, the Daesang had remained elusive until this year. She has previously been recognized for standout performances in "A Muse" (2012), "Coin Locker Girl" (2015), "The Advocate: A Missing Body" (2015), "Cheese in the Trap" (2016), "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Goblin)" (2016), "Little Women" (2022), "Exhuma" (2024), and "The Price of Confession" (2025).
Kim's first Daesang not only celebrates her performance in "You and Everything Else" but also serves as recognition of her consistent excellence across film and television. The award further solidifies her place among the leading actresses of her generation.
