Kim Leadbeater calls for unity on anniversary of sister Jo Cox’s murder

  • Kim Leadbeater, the sister of murdered MP Jo Cox, has expressed deep concern over current divisions in UK society on the 10th anniversary of her sister's death at the hands of a neo-Nazi.
  • She urged political leaders to avoid pushing people towards extremes and to actively counter divisive rhetoric and dangerous language.
  • Ms Leadbeater remembered her sister as someone “full of kindness, full of compassion, but also full of a steely determination to make a difference and to get things done”.
  • She said if Ms Cox was alive, “she would not stop working hard to address those challenges and to look at how we can bring people together”.
  • During Ms Cox's famous maiden speech in Parliament, she said: “We are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.”
