SABAH will develop two new industrial parks to stimulate economic growth and industries in line with the current state government’s investor-friendly approach.

Chief Minister Hajiji Noor said one of the parks will be developed in Kimanis for the oil and gas industry, while the other, to be located in the Kota Marudu-Kota Belud area, will be a general industrial park.

He said the move follows the two existing industrial parks – the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park and Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park – almost reaching full occupation.

“This is also in line with the State Government’s commitment to further boost development in Sabah as well as enhance the people’s quality of life by implementing programmes and initiatives covering various growth sectors,” he said at the investiture ceremony in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the Sabah Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Istana Seri Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu, on Oct 7. Nearly 50 people were conferred awards, decorations and medals.

He also urged the people of Sabah regardless of political, ethnic and religious beliefs need to maintain peace and harmony as desired by Juhar.

Hajiji said it was to ensure the people could continue to live comfortably and prosper while developing the State.

“The diversity of races, ethnicities, religions and cultures in Sabah is a symbol of harmony and uniqueness that is very valuable.

“This not only makes the State unique, but is a treasure that needs to be preserved for future generations.

“I hope we will always maintain and look after this atmosphere,” he said at the State Banquet in conjunction with the anniversary celebration later on.

Hajiji also wants the cooperation of all the State leadership in order to carry out tasks and responsibilities entrusted with sincerity and honesty, obedience and loyalty, dedication and integrity.

“The trust given by the people must be supported wholeheartedly so that we can achieve the Hala Tuju SMJ agenda together with excellence.

“At the same time, the State Government will also try to provide various facilities and infrastructure to the people, especially the youth, such as training and courses to learn and explore new skills so as to be able to generate income to help the family economy,” he said.

At the ceremony, Hajiji and his wife, Datin Seri Juliah Salag accompanied Juhar and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R M Jasni to cut the anniversary cake.
