Kota Kinabalu: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a deal to develop the Kimpton Kota Kinabalu, marking the brand’s second property in Malaysia.
The 350-room beachfront hotel will be located along the Tanjung Aru shoreline and is being developed in partnership with Pekah Beach Resorts Sdn Bhd.
IHG Hotels & Resorts (South East Asia and Korea, Development) Vice President Bryan Chan (pic) said the signing reflects growing demand for lifestyle hospitality offerings in Malaysia.
“We are excited to bring Kimpton to Kota Kinabalu, offering guests a distinctive, design-led experience that celebrates local culture and community,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Slated to open in 2031, the project is expected to enhance Kota Kinabalu’s tourism landscape with beachfront access, lifestyle amenities and a focus on integrating local experiences.
