The alumni of King Edward VII School (KE&) in Taiping, Perak - proudly known as Old Edwardians or Tigers - include some of the most prominent historic and modern figures in Malaysian and regional history. Established in 1883, this premier institution has a long legacy of producing influential government leaders, rulers, judges, military commanders, professional artists & athletes, and corporate titans. The alumni are connected through the Old Edwardians Association Malaysia & its active chapter, Old Edwardian Association Kuala Lumpur. They preserve the school's heritage by managing many programs.
The upcoming OEAM meet is the Tigers Weekend Event 2026 which will take place on 10 October 2026 (Saturday) 8.00 PM onwards at the Esplanade in Taiping. Event entry and food are free, but registration with the committee is required. The exclusive “Tigers Weekend” merchandize pack includes four items: (1) special edition T-shirt; (2) reversible/2-design custom cap; (3) custom keychain; (4) event door gift bag. A limited-edition for pre-order at RM60. So, OE alumni are invited to head back to Taiping for a massive gathering aimed at reconnecting and celebrating the enduring Tigers' spirit of the school.
Even though I left KE7 in 1966 however, my relationship with many Old Edwardians, especially my classmates remain intact. It is further strengthened by my involvement as Vice President of OEAKL. I realized the power of an alumni network lies in its unique ability to bridge a school's history with its future, transforming a shared past into a lifelong engine for personal, professional, and community growth. When former students unite, we create an ecosystem of influence that benefits the members, the institution, and society at large. The professional engine of alumni networks connection bypasses cold emails.
I recall as corporate HRD practitioner, I naturally inclined to hire or mentor graduates from my own alma mater due to shared values & trusted institutional standards. Large networks span across multiple sectors, allowing younger alumni to secure internship, job placements & executive mentorship programs.
