King grants royal assent to nine new Acts of Parliament

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim has given royal assent to nine Acts passed by Parliament, covering areas from insolvency and legal aid to social security and skills development.

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty the King, Sultan Ibrahim, has granted royal assent to nine Acts recently passed by Parliament.

The announcement was made by Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor before the Minister’s Question Time session.

The Acts receiving assent include the Insolvency (Cross-Border) Act 2025 and the Legal Aid and Public Defence Act 2026.

Also assented to were the Hire Purchase (Amendment) Act 2026 and the Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Act 2025.

The Skills Development Fund (Amendment) Act 2025 and the National Skills Development (Amendment) Act 2025 were also included.

The final three Acts are the Rukun Tetangga (Amendment) Act 2025, the Legal Profession (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2025, and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Amendment) Act 2025.

Royal assent is the final step required for a bill passed by Parliament to become law.
