Malaysians often modify their national cars to resemble Japanese models for a more stylish and sporty look. However, a recent post by a Japanese man named Kenji Hoshino has taken a different approach, showing off his Kei Car, a lightweight vehicle made in Japan, which he modified to look like a Perodua model.
Hoshino used a Daihatsu Mira and made several adjustments, including altering the car's structure from a three-door to a two-door model. He also changed the external cosmetics, including the emblem, to mimic the appearance of Malaysias Perodua Kelisa. To complete the transformation, Hoshino even used a Malaysian license plate for an authentic touch, making the car look like it came straight from Malaysia.
As a finishing touch, he painted the car in light gold, a colour that is iconic among Kelisa owners in Malaysia.
Hoshinos post in the "Kelisa Owners" Facebook group quickly caught the attention of Malaysian netizens, with many expressing their excitement over the successful transformation. While the Kelisa may be seen as an ordinary car in Malaysia, its gaining admiration among automotive enthusiasts abroad, making Malaysians proud of their local model being appreciated on an international scale.
