Sultan Ibrahim is recovering from musculoskeletal back and hip pain, Istana Negara confirms
PETALING JAYA: The King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, is currently unwell due to musculoskeletal pain.
According to a statement from Istana Negara, His Majesty is experiencing pain in his back and hips and has been advised against attending official engagements to allow time for medical treatment and recovery.
“As His Majesty is undergoing follow-up treatment, he was unable to attend the breaking-of-fast event with the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Heads of Foreign Missions and senior government officials at Istana Negara the day before yesterday,” the statement said.
Due to his current health condition, His Majesty was also unable to attend the opening ceremony of the Sultan Ibrahim Mosque at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) on Thursday (February 27).
The event has since been postponed to a later date.
His Majesty has conveyed that he will resume attending official events once his health improves.
It was previously reported that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong underwent medical treatment abroad for musculoskeletal pain and returned to Malaysia two weeks later.
The pain was attributed to Sultan Ibrahim’s active lifestyle and military training, referencing to his polo matches as a youth.
