SANDAKAN: King tide destroyed at least 70 stilt houses and made at least 500 residents homeless at Kampung Forest, here, last night.
The villagers also lost all their possessions except the clothes on their back and important documents.
The strong waves also hit some houses at Jambatan 5, Kampung Tinosa 2, although no damage and human casualties were reported.
Police advised coastal residents to seek temporary shelter inland as king tides are expected tonight and tomorrow night.
